Hey! I’m Sara

Thanks for being here! I'm starting this blog as a way to process cancer, chaos, and whatever else I feel compelled to.

After graduating from Pomona College in 2019, I packed my bags and headed to Paraguay to spend two years as a Peace Corps volunteer. The pandemic forced us to evacuate and, devastated, I wound up back in my hometown of Seattle to weather six months of pandemic uncertainty. Come fall, I moved to Truckee, California to work on climate action and sustainability in local government.

Then in July 2021, at age 25, I got diagnosed with blood cancer. Primary mediastinal B cell lymphoma, a very rare type of aggressive non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Now, I’m starting a chapter that I never expected to, and am trying to find the words for it. This blog will begin as an effort to do just that. It will be a journal of sorts, a way to share my thoughts and experiences with those who care to follow the journey. It will be about life and chaos and beauty and illness. It will be honest and vulnerable and raw, because these words are as much for me as they are for anyone else.

Much love, thank you for reading :)
